Important Dates to Remember

Mark these dates on your calendar:

  • Overseas Voting Period: The Overseas Voting Period is from April 9, 2028 to May 8, 2028.
  • Election Day: Philippine election day will be on May 8, 2028.

Overseas voting ends on election day, so don’t wait until the last week. Check your name and plan your schedule early, especially if you need to take time off work.

Certified List of Overseas Voters in Japan

How to Find Your Name on the CLOV

The list is organized to make searching simple. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Philippine Embassy in Japan’s website. Look for the section on overseas voting or the Certified List of Overseas Voters.
  2. Find the file for your last name. The list is arranged alphabetically by last name and split into separate PDF files by letter range.
  3. Open the matching PDF. Pick the file that covers the first letter of your last name.
  4. Use the search function. Press CTRL + F on Windows or Command + F on Mac. Type your last name in the search box to jump straight to it.
  5. Review your details. Confirm that your full name and other information are correct.

Search tip: Type your name exactly as you registered it. Avoid extra spaces or characters, which can stop the search from finding a match.

What Your Result Means

If Your Name Is on the List

You’re eligible to vote. Your registration went through, and you can take part in the 2028 national elections during the Overseas Voting Period.

If Your Name Is Not on the List

You won’t be able to vote in this election cycle. Double-check the spelling and search again before you assume it’s missing. If you still can’t find your name, contact the Philippine Embassy to ask about your registration status and how to prepare for future elections.

  • If your name appears on the list, this confirms that you’ve successfully registered for overseas voting and are eligible to participate in the important decisions of the upcoming COMELEC national elections.
  • If your name is not on the list, don’t be discouraged! This simply means you won’t be participating in this election cycle. However, you can prepare for future elections.

What to Expect on Voting Day

If you vote in person at a Philippine post in Japan, the process usually looks like this:

  1. Confirm your eligibility by checking the CLOV in advance.
  2. Present a valid ID, such as your passport, to the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI).
  3. Sign the voter register and receive your ballot. Check that it has no damage or marks.
  4. Fill out your ballot in the assigned voting area. You can choose one President, one Vice President, up to 12 Senators, and one Party List group. Don’t vote for more than allowed.
  5. Feed your ballot into the Vote Counting Machine (VCM).
  6. Check your voter’s receipt to confirm your choices were recorded correctly.
  7. Drop the receipt in the designated box. Taking photos or copies is not allowed.
  8. Report any problems to the SBEI right away.
